What is better, Traxxas Slash or Stampede?

Overall, Stampedes are engineered for extreme bashing with the efficient, low-mass drivetrain optimized for brutal torque. At the same time, the Slash will offer you Incredible speed and longer run times due to its upgradable wheel size.

All Traxxas models offer extreme fun when driven. However, they also function and perform differently. Traxxas Stampede and Slash models have many similarities that make them seem alike in their speed to motor and power source, but they come with some features and functions that differentiate them. To know which is better between the Stampede and Slash, let’s consider the durability of the chassis, suspension, wheels, and use.

  • Chassis

All Traxxas Slash models are built with strong yet flat chassis. However, you can’t upgrade them. The Stampede has a high or raised chassis that stays far from the ground. And just like the Slash models, you can’t upgrade them.

  • Suspension

The suspension ensures your RC car easily absorbs bumps. Lower suspensions are great for track racing provides better acceleration and maximum speed. However, they don’t absorb more bumps since they almost touch the ground. On the contrary, a higher suspension will mean above ground level, making them easy to absorb bumps than lower ones and great for extreme off-road runs. Traxxas Slash has lower suspensions, while the Stampede comes with higher ones.

  • Wheels

Stampedes come with big wheels meant for bashing. The size of their wheels makes it impossible for you to tune them for racing. On the other hand, Traxxas Slash has smaller wheels, so you can upgrade them to bigger ones to work exceptionally for bashing.

  • Use

Traxxas Rc cars are built for either racing or bashing purposes. If you’re a fan of racing, the Traxxas Slash offers faster acceleration and speed levels. Traxxas Stampede, however, doesn’t work well for racing since they come with large wheels meant for extreme off-road and rugged terrains.

Top speed of the Traxxas Stampede vs. Slash

Traxxas Stampede is one of Traxxas’ high-performance monster trucks due to the legendary ruggedness and crazy off-road experience they offer RC enthusiasts.

With a top speed of 30+mph, the Stampede offers maximum race action for users. However, Traxxas models like the Stampede 4X4 VXL can reach speed limits up to 60mph since they come with a Velineon brushless motor and a lightweight modular flat chassis.

Contrarily, Traxxas Slash models have a top speed between 60mph to 70mph when run with a LiPo battery.

Traxxas Stampede vs. Slash motor

Almost all Traxxas models are fitted with a Velineon brushless power system. The Stampede and Slash models are no different. However, some Slash models use the upgraded Titan® 12-Turn 550 modified motor.

When tuned properly with the right upgrades, your Slash can even be a basher.

Will a Stampede body fit on a Slash?

Yes, a Stampede shell can fit on a Slash. However, you won’t get a perfect fit because the body may be a bit bigger than that of the Slash models.

To ensure it fits, you want to choose a wheelbase and width spec that measures close to the Slash model, then cut and trim the body to get a perfect fit for your Stampede RC car.
