1. The Best Perfect Grade Gundam – PG Gundam RX-0 Unicorn

The PG Unicorn Gundam is possibly one of the best PG Gundam kits ever released by Bandai. It looks nice and is built to be very solid.  

Price range: $272 – $345

Features 

 Features of this PG kit include: 

The model uses magnets for its transforming horn

It comes with a bunch of weapons including a beam magnum, shield, beam sabers, hyper bazooka, extra ammo cartridges, and twin Gatling guns. 

Accessories include a display stand, Colored plastic runner x 47, a Slide Mark x1, and a Foil Sticker x1.

An Instruction Manual.

Pros

Requires an Intermediate skill level to build.

The model does not need glue for its assembly.

It has a massive range of movement while still maintaining its iconic proportion and look.

It is capable of transforming from Unicorn Mode to Destroy Mode and also can be modeled into a hidden third form. 

Cons

The plastic is already colored, so it limits your ability to customize the model.

The price of this model is very unstable and frequently changes.

The PG Banshee Norn is another really good perfect-grade gunpla. It has the same frame as the PG Unicorn Gundam, but instead of the Unicorn’s Gatlings and Bazooka, it has a massive Norn backpack, a giant shield, and parts to make the launcher for the rifle.

Features 

It comes with a giant display base and Detron stickers for markings.

The kit includes original marking stickers; Runner ×59, a Tetron sticker, a Foil sticker, and an Instruction manual.

Comes with a display base. The base has elastic support which accommodates dynamic poses. 

Pros

The head has a transformation structure. The antennas on the head have magnets inside to hold them together in Unicorn Mode. 

In the state of “unchained”, armor all over the body opens and maximally reveals the Psycho Frames (which are made with clear material).

The same range of movement as Unicorn Mode is maintained even in Destroy Mode.

Accessories include; a beam rifle with accurate internal detail, a shield with an actual direct-view shutter feature, and 2 foldable armor Schneider knives that can be stored in the skirt armor.

The Perfect Grade Gundam Exia has its biggest feature the “GN Drive mechanism“. 

This mechanism was designed under the supervision of Mechanical Designer – Ebike Kanetake.

This mechanism is just one of the things that make this PG gunpla kit the best perfect grade kit for me.

Price Range: $355 – $569

Features 

This Gunpla has newly designed LED units, plus newly adopted light guiding materials and gimmicks.

The newly designed LED unit is expressed through the GN Particle output. It shifts from green to Green/Blue, and finally the critical stage of GN Particle emissions, Trans Am!

Contains 40 runners, 1 sheet of marking stickers, 1 sheet of metallic stickers, 1 sheet of foil stickers, 1 sheet of dry transfer decals, 2 sheets of silicone, and 1 LED unit.

Pros

Panels can open and close on the kit allowing one to view various mechanical structure parts for the model. 

The mechanism in which the GN particles transmit from the GN Drive throughout the whole body has been replicated. 

Cons

It can’t support the GN sword at high angles.

The head doesn’t articulate so much.

PG GN-001 Gundam Exia

7. PG 1/60 RX-93 NU GUNDAM

This kit was the most anticipated PG Gundam kit at the time of its release. It was to have a height of about 37cm, and contain over 2000 pieces.

It is a really interesting kit to build, some of the best fun builds I ever had.

Price range $550 – $625

Features 

The accessories in this kit include; a beam rifle, shield, beam saber (large and small), Beam saber set, Amuro custom base, and new type of hyper bazooka.

Additional Features include Amuro Custom Base, Maintenance figure set, and Amuro Ray figure set.

It includes the 3 x LR41 “test batteries” needed for the body.

The kit, when fully assembled, is as tall as 37cm.

Pros

It is fun and exciting because it has over 2000 pieces.

The details and finish of the armor are carefully considered to give an excellent presentation.

Cons

The 4 x AAA battery set required for the base is sold separately.

It requires a large space to be displayed

Due to its over 2000 pieces, it takes a lot of time to build one model.

PG 1/60 RX-93 NU GUNDAM

8. PG 1/60 Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee Norn “Gundam UC”

This is a PG representation of the titular mecha design from the 7-episode OVA “Gundam UC.”

Price Range $183- $295

Features

The RX-178 Gundam Mk II embodies the mechanical complexity and attention to detail commonly attributed to the Perfect Grade line.

If you like a perfect grade kit, this will probably be one of the best for you.

Price Range: $249 – $400

It is furnished with an internal skeleton featuring pistons and sensor arrays.

Beam rifles, beam sabers, bazooka, head Vulcan, and shields are included as well as Runner x 30, Foil sticker x1, Marking seal x1, Decal x1, Led unit, Instruction manual.

The kit features many opening hatches and swiveling components as if it were a real machine undergoing maintenance.

This is the perfect grade (i.e the 1/60 scale) representation of the feather-winged Gundam from the OVA “Endless Waltz.”

As you can expect, the wings of this PG kit are what make this model so good to display and pose.

The parts easily attach without the use of glue.

The kit possesses lighting gimmicks in the cockpit and head.

It is made of colored plastic, therefore little to no paint is required to replicate its appearance.

Features 

The pieces are snap-fit and require no glue for assembly. 

The kit is made with colored plastic (additional painting is by choice).

Pros

The kit is extremely detailed and highly engineered.

It is challenging, yet satisfying to build.

PG kits are especially great for experienced Gundam hobbyists or modelers. They test whatever knowledge of Gundam building you have and demand more of your time than the other Gundam grades.

PG kits have more parts to assemble, are more detailed, and are made with higher-quality plastics.
